Original Cruise Data

VOS Program Data

Global Volunteer Observing Ship (VOS) Program original cruise data

Data Synthesis Products

Global Surface pCO2 (LDEO) Database

Approximately 9 million measurements of surface water pCO2 made over the global oceans during 1957-2013.

SOCAT Database

Global surface partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) from 2660 cruises covering all oceans from 1968 to 2011 and consists of 10.1 million data measurement locations.

Ocean Carbon Surface/Underway Data

Surface Ocean pCO2 data is used in the monitoring the ocean carbon flux between ocean and atmosphere. CDIAC surface ocean CO2 data archive consists of the Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) program which is the original cruise data from the research ships and ships of opportunity cruises from 14 nations around the World, and two data synthesis projects: the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) database of approximately 9 million quality-controlled partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) measurements made over the global oceans during 1957-2013, and the Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas (SOCAT) of fugacity of carbon dioxide (fCO2) measurements from more than 2660 ocean cruises from 1968-2011. SOCAT contains approximately 10.1 million measurements of various carbon parameters available in a common format.
