Each numeric data package (NDP) assembled by CDIAC goes through a process of assuring the quality of the data. This process includes review(s) by the contributors of the data to ensure that, in compiling the data, CDIAC does not misrepresent or inaccurately describe the data. NDPs are not distributed without the written consent of the contributors. In addition to review by the contributors, CDIAC also performs some quality checks on the data. For this data set, the following checks were done:
(1) The data were double-entered and the two files were compared to
check for typos.
(2) All typos were checked against the published values (Chen et al.,
1986) and corrected.
(3) Intra-station range checks were done for pH (>1.0) and total
alkalinity (>100 ueq/1).
(4) Inter and intra-station range checks were done for salinity (>1.000).
