This page contains an interactive map and menu that allows you to select
the state, station, and type of data you wish to see.
The full U.S. HCN data base contains the original data; data adjusted for time-
of-observation, station moves, and instrument changes; and data adjusted for urbanization effects.
To save space on this server, only the data adjusted for urbanization effects
are available here (i.e., this
data has also been adjusted for time-of-observations, station moves,
and instrument changes). The entire data base is
available via FTP.
Select the type of data you are interested in
The format of the temperature data are as follows:
Station number, year, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep,
Oct, Nov, Dec, Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb), Spring (Mar, Apr, May),
Summer (Jun, Jul, Aug), Fall (Sep, Oct, Nov), and the annual average
temperature (Jan-Dec). All values are in degrees F and -99.99
indicates missing data.
The format of the total precipitation data are as follows:
Station number, year, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep,
Oct, Nov, Dec, and the annual total precipitation.
All values are in hundredths (i.e., 100 = 1 inch) and -9999
indicates missing data.
