Data description

  1. Sea-air CO2 flux (mol/m2/y) from OPA-NPZD model (Le Quere et al., 2003). Mean, detrended values.
  2. Sea-air pCO2 (uatm) from OPA-NPZD model (Le Quere et al., 2003) Mean, detrended values.
  3. SST (oC) based on satellite data (Reynolds and Smith 1994). Mean, detrended values.
  4. Sea Surface Height (SSH, cm) provided by the French CNES (Cabanes et al. 2002). Mean, detrended values.
  5. Sea-air CO2 flux (mol/m2/y) from an atmospheric CO2 inversion (Rdenbeck et al., 2003). Mean, detrended values.
  6. Surface Chla from SeaWiFS (mgChl/m3). Missing data are filled with a linear interpolation. Mean, detrended values.
  7. Mixed layer depth (m) estimated using the WOA2001 monthly temperature data and departure from surface density by 0.125 g/l. Missing data are filled with a linear interpolation Salinity variations and not taken into account. Mean, detrended values.
  8. Detrended monthly mean heat content (10^9 J/m2) estimated using SSH from from Cabanes et al. 2002. See here for a description of method. Detrended values.
  9. Annual mean heat content (10^9 J/m2) from Levitus et al., 2000. Detrended values.
Detrended+deseasonalized values were calculated by applying a 12-month running average for each month and removing the mean value
(i.e. in ferret: x_dtrend = x[t=@sbx:12] - x[t=@ave] ).
