07-27-01 - SPU

precip_harvard_forest
precip_region

The file precip_harvard_forest contains daily precipitation
totals (in mm) for Harvard Forest from 1991 - 2000. The data is mostly
from the Shaler Meteorological Station.  The original data can
be found at the Harvard Forest web site (http://www.lternet.edu/hfr/resdata.html).
Missing or suspect observations have been replaced with a distance
weighted average of surrounding meteorological stations. 
The surrounding meterological stations used were:

#Barre Falls Dam - 190408
#Hardwick - 193401
#New Salem - 195306
#Orange - 54756

Data for all of the surrounding meteorological stations was obtained
from the National Climatic Data Center (http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/).
The daily precipitation totals for the surrounding stations are
contained in the file precip_region. A plot of the surrounding 
stations along with their COOP ID or WBAN numbers is included in
this directory (stations.gif).
