Correction equation: PPFD = 2.4215 Rnet + 57.1 Tower height = 30 m. Measurement height = 32 m. CO2, LE and H were collectively corrected for attenuation of the gas concentrations in the sampling tube, the non-ideal frequency response of the LI-6262, and sensor separation loss using transfer functions (Moncrieff et al. 1997). Flux data screening was required to eliminate data resulting from systematic errors, non-relevant environmental influences, such as animal interference or rainfall, and condensation in the sample lines. Half-hour values were eliminated if they met any of the following criteria: incomplete half-hour datasets as a result of starting and stopping the system for calibration, maintenance, or weather, values that were collected during rain events, values that were measured when canopy air was poorly coupled with atmospheric air (a friction velocity, u*, threshold of < 0.2 m s-1 was used to define stable conditions; Goulden et al. 1996, Clark et al. 1999), values that expressed excessive variation from the half-hourly mean based on an analysis of standard deviations for u, v, and w wind statistics and CO2, and H fluxes. In total about 1/3 of the measured half-hours were removed by the screening process.
